God is the perfect gentleman

God is the perfect gentleman

"The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven't yet come to the end of themselves. We're still trying to give orders, and interfering with God's work within us." - A.W. Tozer

Early in my walk with Christ, I learned how to depend on God after many trials. I had to learn that God is the perfect gentleman. If you don't ask him, and if you lean on your own understanding, he will let you. Despite the word of God showing me and telling me that I have to pursue God wholeheartedly to understand how to get out the situation I was in, I tried to give God orders and I tried to lead the Holy Spirit, instead of being a humble student. While, fear is the root cause of what I did, the reason I tried to give God orders, and lead the Holy Spirit was because I wanted God to save me from my problems, the way that I thought it should have be done, which required no faith. God will never go against his word, he can't!
  • But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.Deuteronomy 4:29
  • I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.Proverbs 8:17
  • Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.Jeremiah 29:12-14
  • But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.Matthew 6:33
  • Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!1 Chronicles 16:11
  • “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.Matthew 7:7-8
  • You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.Jeremiah 29:13
  • And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.Hebrews 11:6
When I finally humbled my heart, I learned that God never expected me to fight my own battles, come up with plans or back up plans, fear, or be defeated.  Rather he expected me to trust his plan to get me to victory. God is thee master strategist, he can bless us more ways than we can count. In order for God to do what he yearns to do for us, we have to come to the end of ourselves (self-effort), by acknowledging that God doesn't need our help with planning our victory.  All he requires from us is faith(action) before we see the manifestation of the victory.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.1 Corinthians 10:13
“When you go out to war against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you. ...‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’Deuteronomy 20:1-4
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
