Living by Faith

Living by Faith

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” - Romans 1:17

How do we LIVE by faith?
1. By allowing the Holy Spirit to sanctify us through the word of God.
2. Understanding God's will, plan, purpose, and pursuit for our life.

What is the result of faith?
1. Resting in God's finished plan
2. Fullness of spiritual life as stated in Romans 14:17 and Romans 15:13 which  is: righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

What is LIVING by faith?
First, let's define what the bible says faith is. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11: 1.

What this means is that you have confidence in the promises of God that are in his word. For example, lets say that you are sick and at the moment of your sickness you're hoping for healing. While, you don't see the healing, you can see your symptoms getting worse. Despite not seeing you're healing, you stand firm on the promise of God for healing by believing and speaking the word of God.

In a situation in which you are in dire need, how do you hope for what you do not see? By believing that what the word of God says is true. Hearing the word of God, increases our faith. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17

Living by faith is:
•Walking in God's plan for your life
•Acknowledging God in all your ways so that he can direct your path
•Simply believing God in every situation, whether good or bad ... despite what you see, hear, or feel.
•Not having a back-up plan for God's plan, purpose, and pursuit for your life

So let's revisit the question... "How do we LIVE by faith?

How do we LIVE by faith?
1. By allowing the Holy Spirit to sanctify you through the word.
  • Sanctification is the process of being set apart from the world. Everyone who is justified will be tested with the test of worldliness. This test is to see what's in your heart. When things get tough will you go back to the world? Will you stand firm in the word of God?
2. Understanding God's will plan, purpose, and pursuit for your life.
  • The word of God says, in all your getting get understanding.
  • God's will is that everyone who come to Jesus will be saved and raised on the last day. If you are lead by the Holy Spirit, his will will triumph over your request. For example, if you're asking God to take you out of your current problem, he may not if that problem is meant to help save you.
  • God's plan is what you were called and born for. Only you can do it!
  • God's purpose is the reason why he has called you to do his plan for your life.
  • God's pursuit  is the way that God wants you to pursue his plan for your life.
The result of living by faith...
Godly rest is not working out of fear, but by faith. What this means is if you are doing God's plan for your life, the way God has called you to pursue it then you should not have a back up plan for God's calling for your life. His plan should be your only plan. Thus, you rest from your own self effort and let God be God. If you are in God's plan for your life, God will provide, direct you, protect you, comfort you...

Paul tells us in Romans 4:17-18 that anyone who lives by faith [the result of faith is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit] and serves Christ as they live by faith is pleasing to God.

Once you understand what's written above you'll be able to trust God with peace, joy and rest, no matter the circumstances around you because you'll be living by faith.
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:17
