God's Rest

God's Rest

Before I entered into God's rest, I wondered about God's rest. Back then I did not know it was called God's rest, but I knew there had to be more; more then going to church on Sunday and maybe Wednesday and still feeling, being, and seeing defeat (e.g. an outward joy and peace based upon what I have or don't have).
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
I really believed that being a believer was more than just pretending like it. Back then what I was referring to, was that there has to be more than being religious and be more to God than what I saw around me in church. Please note, that I'm speaking of religious circles and churches that are more natural minded, worldly and religious (Matthew 23, and Galatians 5). I love the body of Christ which is not a building but those who believe are the church. Now back to the post. I would ask myself, how come there are church attendees who have attended church for 20 years and they hadn't changed; still gossiping, complaining, and miserable on the inside? I've never met a joyful and peaceful gossiper, have you?

Then when I finally gave my life to Christ and allowed the Holy Spirit to sanctify me, I understood that there is a HUGE difference between a sanctified believer, and a worldly church-goer. What I understand now, spiritually, is that those believers who attended church without a change of their spiritual hearts, are not allowing the Holy Spirit to take the world out of them, which means to sanctify them. There defeated, as I used to be, because they refuse to let go of the illusion of this world: More more more!; Fast fast fast!; Sexy, hot, bling!

God wants us all to enter into his rest. Open your bibles to Hebrew 4. According to Hebrews 4:2 the first step of entering God's rest is believing that God's rest exist. In order to believe God's rest exist you have to know what it is and it's outlined in Hebrews 4:9&10. In Hebrews 4:11, Paul tells us
"Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience."
If we don't rest from our own works (mean put away our worldly plans to pursue the plan God has for us) then like the Israelites there's a chance of living life full of troubles due to disobedience.
"Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief." Hebrews 3:16-19
Lost? Let me  break it down.

Sanctification via the Holy Spirit will lead a believer to enter in God's rest. You can't be worldly, and enter in God's rest, as God is not of the world, the devil is. God's rest is the Kingdom of God (Romas 1:17, Romans 14:17, Romans 15:13). The Devil's rest is worldly and produces uneasiness (2 Corinthians 4:4, John 12:31; 14:30).
