How does God match us with a spouse?

In today's post we are going to speak about how God our maker, matches born-again believers with one another for marriage. From reading Genesis 1:24-31 and Genesis 24, we know that God's purpose for mankind is to have dominion over the earth. We also know that the purpose of marriage is to help one another rule over the earth while we continue to pursue God's plan for our lives individually and collectively, but the question we want to know the answer to is how does God match us with a  spouse?

Isaiah 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’

When we wait for God, he matches us with a spouse:

1. In accordance with his word.
2. In accordance to his plan for our lives.
  • The father would never match two people who have opposing plans for their lives. Meaning, if one person is called to be a missionary and another is called to be a local pastor that would not be a good fit. So if God's plan for two people individually is to adopt kids, he will match those two born-again believers together because he has given them extra grace in the area of love, patience to have a house full of kids from different cultures, etc [Check out the Millers on YouTube].
3. In accordance to our spiritual maturity
  • Unless you're Hosea, the father most likely will not match you with someone who is on a different level spiritually. Do you know that even born-again believers can be unequally yoked? If one born-again believer believe that speaking in tongues is not of God and another born-again believer believes in every miracle, spiritual blessing in the bible the believers will be unequally yoked.
How do we know that it's not God matching us with someone?
  1. We are not a born-again believer - Baptised in water and the Holy Spirit. Jesus care more about the salvation of our soul, then helping us get married.
  2. We do not know God's plan for our lives - The father isn't going to bless us with a marriage so we can continue to live for ourselves. The biblical reason for marriage is so that we can have help as we continue to pursue God's plan for our lives.
  3. We are not walking in God's plan for our lives - The father isn't going to bless us with a marriage so we can continue to live for ourselves. We do not wait until we get married to pursue God's plan for our life.
  4. We don't read the bible - The father often speaks to our heart when we read his word. How are we going to know if it's the father matching us with someone if we don't hear from him?
  5. We are living in sin - The father want us to rule over sin before matching us with someone. Why? If sin is ruling over you, then your marriage will be of full sin and it will distract you from doing God's plan for your life.
