Journey To The Promise

Journey To The Promise

God has a plan for everyone. When a believer is walking in God's plan for their life, for the purpose of that plan then God will often make us promises. Note: We first have to be in his will. If you are not in God's plan for your life then you'll never receive the promise. God's plan for some born-again believers lives is to be martyrs for Christ, while God's plan for others is to live a life full of years. Proof text: Stephen in Acts 6, Jesus Christ in Isaiah 53. However, while born-again believers are alive no matter their end on earth, we all have been given a promise by God. Some receive the promise on earth and in heaven, while others receive the promise in heaven. Proof text: read the epistles to read about the life of the apostles.

Acts 14:22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.
Now-a-days, so many of us want instant results, we want to see the success of our hard work fairly quickly. I worked in Silicon Valley where stats and metrics are used to help us be more productive by producing quality work quicker. It's important to mention that God doesn't work that way, not at all. He cares for us too much to give us a promise without making sure we can handle it. When God gave me the promise aligned to his plan for my life, I knew that it would take time to get there but I did not expect bumpy transitions, as much opposition, and severe trials and tribulations. Also, I never expected that it would take over two years to get to the promise aligned to his plan for my life. For clarity: I am not referencing the 9 promises of God that I speak about in the teaching: "What to do when you're in a pickle." Rather, I am referencing the promise that God has given us according to his plan for our lives. For example:
  • God's plan for my life: Shepherd his people, and teach them how to live for him
  • God's purpose for that plan: To teach them how to live for him
  • God's pursuit for that plan: IDK, but that is what we are speak about in this teaching.
Examples of people in the bible who experiences years of pruning [cleaning], maturing, and growing before receiving the grand promise that is aligned to God's plan for their lives.

  • In Exodus 24:13 Joshua started off as Moses's aide before leading Israel into the promised land in Joshua 5Numbers 13 Joshua's faith was tested.
  • This took 40 years!
Joseph
  • In Genesis 37-42 Joseph went through a lot of hardship due to his obedience to God.
  • It took over 20 years for Joseph's dream to come to past.
David
  • In 1 Samuel 16 David started off as King Saul's aid before being King over Judah and then eventually being King over Israel in 2 Samuel 2.
  • This took over 20 years!

  • This took over 10 years!
