Our identity: Before we get started, it's important to mention that when Jesus Christ was on earth physically he was all five-leadership gifts to the church; according to Ephesians 4:1-16 when Jesus ascended into heaven, he split his leadership gifts into five gifts and gave these gifts to the church for the purpose of equpping saints, unity and maturity. Is the body of Christ unified and matured? Then we still have a need for apostles, and prophets. Typically, the body of Christ understand the need for evangelist, teachers, and pastors, so I don't have to explain the need for those offices. Now that we know that Jesus Christ was all five while living on earth, we should also know that the Holy Spirit is all five as well. With this being said technically no one is an apostle, no one is a prophet, no one is a teacher, no one is a pastor, and no one is an evangelist. However, there are people in this world who are gifts to the church who stand in those offices on behalf of Jesus Christ. Jesus needs human vessels to work through, as we live in a physical world. An office in the five-fold is not who those who are in the five-fold leadership are. Rather, they only stand in those offices for Jesus Christ, when needed, after they've been called and anointed. Our identity is not the office that we stand in. Around July of 2019 the Holy Spirit revealed this to me, and that's why I stopped introducing myself as Pastor of ANJWC Church. I am not a pastor; although I stand in the office of a pastor. However, what I am is a child of God.
How this came about...
What is a shepherd?
Definition: Someone who is called and appointed with authority to counsel born-again believers. The purpose of counseling is to show born-again believers how to rule over their soul (emotion, feelings, and thoughts).

A rebuke to the American church
Firstly, I thank the Lord often for pastors because the church wouldnt be the church without the gift of the pastor. I believe pastors have a gift of compassion given to them to counsel spiritually immature believers that teachers, and prophets, do not have the patience for. Without pastors I do not believe newly born again believers would stick around long enough to be matured by teachers and apostles.

With that being said, it is important for us to understand that pastors are not apostles nor are they teachers. Let me premious this message before I share it. I am speaking the truth in love, so that the purpose of the church can be fulfilled as outlined in Ephesians 4:12-16. Please let the word of God be your foundation and the Holy Spirit your Law. Please don't think that I'm saying something that I'm not. In America we've replaced the whole five-fold, with one of gift to the church and that gift is the shepherd. That's probably why there are hundreds of pastors who quit ministry yearly or hundreds who build corporate churches instead of kingdom churches. We've placed a burden on that gift, and as much needed as pastors are, they are not gifted to stand in the office of a teacher, prophet, evangelist, and apostle. All the five-fold gifts are gifts to the church, but they have different gifts and different spiritual authority. According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:27-29, apostles have the highest spiritual authority in terms of the church, then prophets, and then teachers. While, shepherds and evangelist are not directly mentioned, we can conclude that their spiritual authority is less as it pertains to the foundation of the church. Preaching was and still is for sinners (who Jesus Christ is, what he came to do, repentance, the new birth), and teaching is for born-again believers.

In the early church, shepherds (pastors) were not on the pulpit preaching and or teaching. A shepherds primary responsibility was to counsel flocks, helping them overcome their soul (emotions, feelings, and thoughts). It's still the same way today, unless, the Holy Spirit has directed a pastor to otherwise do so, they shouldn't do so. Biblically pastors should not preach and definitely not teach on a pulpit unless anointed and called by the Holy Spirit to do so. The reason why the bible has so many wrong interpretations and why the church has so much bad doctorine is because we've turned pastors into teachers, and combined the gift of the shepherd and the gift of the teacher. Shepherds and teachers are both anointed and are both gifts, but they are not the same.

Guess who was on the pulpit in the early church? Teachers! In the gospels, we read that Jesus and Paul taught more then they preached. Not only did teachers teach they taught for hours. How can a teacher, teach a congregation who are in different seasons, and at different levels spiritually in less than 30 minutes? It is possible, but improbable. Back in the early church many Christians wanted to be teachers because they desired the spotlight. In the book of James, James told the church that not many of them should become teachers because those who teach will be judged more strictly.

Believers don't want to acknowledge this biblical truth because they don't like submitting to authority, that is not them. The word of God is the upmost authority. If we don't submit to the word of God, we run the risk if building our church (not God's church) like corporate America and when our hands see church growth we will say that God has blessed it, when really God wasn't and isn't part of what is being built. I'm not teaching you anything that goes against the word of God.

Before any shepherd get on the pulpit they have a responsibility to counsel Jesus's flocks. Watch the video below!

Worship leaders are not pastors just because they are a church leader. The reason why so many worship leaders are being attacked with mental illnesses is because the church has made worship leaders a 6th office in the five-fold. There are demons assigned to the five-fold leadership to destroy God's purpose. If God hadn't called a worship leader to be a pastor, neither should we. Sometimes when we correct wrong practices and doctorine our mind can tell us something that the speaker is not saying. I'm not saying that worship is not important. I'm not saying that the church should not have worship leaders. I'm not saying that God doesn't LOVE praise and worship. Rather, I am telling us what the bible says. In the early church the word of God was what was taught to equip the saints, mature the saints, unify the saints to live in love, not worship-singing. We have to remember the purpose of church.

Requirements of a shepherd?
1 Timothy 3:1-15 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.

Now the overseer is
  • To be above reproach
  • Faithful to his wife
  • Temperate
  • Self-controlled
  • Respectable
  • Hospitable
  • Able to teach (My Notes: This doesn't say stand in the office of a teacher or stand on the pulpit to teach. Watch the teaching Gifts 1 of 3 to understand the difference between teaching by grace through faith vs standing in the office of a teacher)
  • Not given to drunkenness
  • Not violent but gentle
  • Not quarrelsome
  • Not a lover of money
  • He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him
  • He must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.  (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
  • He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil
  • He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap
In the same way, deacons are to be
  • Worthy of respect
  • Sincere
  • Not indulging in much wine
  • Not pursuing dishonest gain
  • They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience
  • They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons
In the same way, the women are to be
  • Worthy of respect
  • Not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything
A deacon must be
  • Faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well
Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus. Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Levels of Shepherds
For every office in the five-fold, there is a level. The higher the level, the more you live like Jesus Christ. Not all ministers of God are on the same level, spiritually speaking. Just because a ministry is large doesn't mean their teaching/preaching is matured content. Just because someone has been a minister of the word for 40+ years doesn't mean their teaching/preaching is matured. However, it can be Godly; it can be accurate but perhaps they have a basic understanding, and that's fine. We need ministers to preach and teach at all levels. Thus the following is true:
  • There will never be an pastor like Jesus Christ. Why? Jesus Christ is Lord
